JPE Crossmark Policy Statement

Crossmark is a multi-publisher initiative from Crossref to provide a standard way for readers to locate the current version of a piece of content. By applying the Crossmark logo Journal of Philosophy of Emotion is committing to maintaining the content it publishes and to alerting readers to changes if and when they occur. Clicking on the Crossmark logo will tell you the current status of a document and may also give you additional publication record information about the document.

The JPE’s Crossmark policies have been directly informed by the retraction guideline provided by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Please see this guideline for more detailed information about the purpose and process of retractions and corrections.

The JPE will retract any publication in which any of the following is applicable:

1. There is clear evidence that the findings are unreliable, either as a result of misconduct (e.g. data fabrication) or honest error (e.g., miscalculation or experimental error)

2. A publication has been previously been published elsewhere without proper cross-referencing, permission or justification (i.e., cases of redundant publication)

3. A publication constitutes plagiarism

4. A publication reports unethical research

The JPE will issue an expression of concern regarding any publication if any of the following is applicable:

1. There is inconclusive evidence of research or publication misconduct by the authors

2. There is evidence that the findings are unreliable but the authors’ institution will not investigate the case

3. An investigation into alleged misconduct related to the publication either has not been, or would not be, fair and impartial or conclusive

4. An investigation is underway but a judgement will not be available for a considerable time

The JPE will issue a correction, by replacing the incorrect publication with a corrected publication, if any of the following is applicable:

1. A portion of an otherwise reliable publication proves to be misleading (especially because of honest error), even under a charitable interpretation of the portion of the publication

2. The author/contributor list is incorrect (i.e. a deserving author has been omitted or somebody who does not meet authorship criteria has been included)
